Z1R Tracker

It's dangerous to go alone! Take this.

Zelda 1 Randomizer takes a game you know by heart and scrambles it. The White Sword Cave might hand you a Power Bracelet. Level 3 might be hiding the Raft. That old man's riddle about a lake? It actually matters now.

A Z1R seed is a lot to keep in your head: which caves you've checked, which dungeons are locked behind a Ladder you don't have yet, and what that hint three screens ago was trying to tell you. Z1R Tracker keeps all of it for you, so your head is free for dodging Wizzrobes.

Open it here: https://bryhalterman.github.io/Z1R_Tracker/. Nothing to install.

Pick your form

The tracker comes in three forms, all built from one shared codebase:

FormWhat it isGrab it when
WebA page on GitHub PagesYou want to start playing right now
DesktopA folder that runs offlineYour internet is as reliable as a Like Like's grip is gentle
OBSA transparent overlay plus clickable docksYou're streaming and want chat to see your progress

What it keeps track of

Your inventory. Click an item, then click where you found it, and you're done. One find is one placement. Upgrades like the Sword, Boomerang, Candle, and Potion pop open a small tier picker, so there's no guessing whether that was the White Sword or the Magical one.

Every place an item can hide. Each dungeon gets its floor and stair slots, every Heart Container gets a spot, and the three shuffled overworld spots (White Sword Cave, Armos, and the Coast) get theirs. A slot remembers what's there separately from whether you took it, so the "there's a Bow in Level 6, I just can't reach it yet" moment has somewhere to go.

The overworld. All 128 screens, 16 across and 8 down. Pick a mark and stamp it on screens like a brush: dungeon entrances, shops (prices included), items, warps, rupee caves, and the trusty checked, nothing here for that bush you burned for no reason.

The dungeons. A room map for every level: doors (locked, shuttered, bombable), staircases, chutes, Ladder rooms, the boss, and the item in each room. Mark a room as needing the Ladder, and once you pick the Ladder up, the room shows a check mark.

Hints. Z1R hints pair a subject with a region, such as "Digdogger gazes… By a Lake." Log the hint, hit Show, and the matching screens light up on the map. The 128-screen haystack becomes the handful worth walking to.

What it skips

Rupees, keys, and hearts. The game's own HUD already shows them, so the tracker stays out of the way.

Your run is saved

The tracker saves to your browser after every click. Close the tab, come back tomorrow, and you pick up where you left off. To move a run to another browser, or keep a backup before you try something bold, use Export to download it as a file and Import to load it back.

Readable without color

No state in the tracker depends on color alone. Held items get a solid border, missing ones a dashed border. Overworld marks are distinct shapes with names on hover and for screen readers. Every color pair passes the WCAG AA contrast check (4.5:1). If you're color blind, the tracker reads the same way it does for anyone else.

Ready to play?

The Z1R Tracker user guide walks through every panel and control in the order you'll meet them on a run. Or just open the tracker and start clicking.
